Laura Parrilla Gómez combines her teaching work with her professional activity as a translator and interpreter in the public and private sectors. She holds a bachelor's degree and a PhD from the University of Malaga and has developed her professional career in both Spain and the United Kingdom. She completed her training with a Master's Degree in Medical Translation and Interpreting and a Diploma in Interpreting in Public Services (Health) in the United Kingdom. Over the last fifteen years, she has been intensely involved in academic activities, with various publications focusing on the training of translators and interpreters, as well as participating in conferences and specialised seminars where she has shared the results of her research in the hospital context and her professional experience in translation and interpreting. She has also collaborated with various institutions, including the organising committee of the 2012 London Olympic Games and the Canary Islands Government's Department of Health, participating in the creation of the multilingual application TRADASSAN. Her doctoral research is one of the few in Spain and internationally based on a corpus of real recordings in the hospital setting. She is currently an assistant professor at Pablo de Olavide University, an examiner for the Institute of Linguists in the United Kingdom and an evaluator of Erasmus projects for the Spanish Service for the Internationalisation of Education. She is also accredited as a tenured professor.
