Mahmoud Gaber is a member at the Research Institute of Multilingual Language Technologies (IUITLM) and the Lexytrad research group at the University of Málaga. His teaching portfolio includes the Erasmus Mundus Master's in Translation and Interpreting Technologies and the Bachelor's Degree in Translation and Interpreting. His research has been published in high-impact journals and prestigious publishers, and he has presented his findings at national and international conferences in countries including Argentina, Austria, Colombia, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, etc. His work has been recognised with prestigious awards, such as the ADAM KILGARRIFF Research Award (Runner-up in 2022 and Best Doctoral Thesis Award in 2023) and the University of Málaga Extraordinary Doctoral Thesis Award (2025). His career has been supported by competitive research grants, including predoctoral and postdoctoral contracts, as well as three international research stays at renowned R&D centres like the University of Wolverhampton (UK) and UNINT (Italy). He has participated in research, knowledge transfer, and social impact projects, such as the development of a multilingual healthcare triage system and collaboration in a university spin-off company. In addition to his research and teaching activities, he is a sworn translator and interpreter accredited by the Ministry of Justice of the United Arab Emirates. His main research lines are: Translation and Interpreting Technologies, Artificial Intelligence applied to Translation and Interpreting, Specialised Translation and Corpus Linguistics.
